Your PMU artist will help determine which is right for your skin type and how it will age over time depending on age, skin type and desired results. Here is a run down of the two methods;

1. MICROBLADING USES A "MICROBLADE" TO IMPLANT COLOR INTO THE SKIN.

The pigment is implanted into the skin manually, bit by bit during your brow session. Your brow shape is created by your artist dipping the micoblade into a pigment and creating your brow, one stroke at a time.

Powder Brows uses an ultra-fine tattoo needle and a Permanent Makeup (PMU) Device aka a tattoo gun to deliver pigment to the skin. Powder Brows are sometimes referred to or called "Ombre Brows." Powder Brows result in a look most like makeup powder, which is where the name “Powder Brows” comes from.

2. YOUR HEAL TIME WILL BE LONGER WITH MICROBLADING VS. POWDER BROWS.

In general, Microblading is more invasive (some skin types can scar or keloid) as the microblade goes deeper into the skin's epidermis (upper layers) of the skin. Expect the initial stages of Micoblading healing to happen over seven days. 

In contrast, Powder Brow's recovery typically is easier Powder Brows heal much faster than Microblading Because the pigment isn't implanted as deeply into the skin. 

3. MICROBLADING is typically best for dry to normal skin and lower Fitzpatrick skin types.

The realism of Microblading depends on the applied "hair strokes" and your skin's ability to heal crisply. With oilier skin types, your treatment will result in "hair strokes." However, please expect your strokes to have a more "feathered" appearance. Also with oily skin types the results make not last ask long or hold pigment as well as a powder brow would.

Your artist might suggest Powder Brows if you have oily or more acne-prone skin. Although your "hair strokes" will heal sufficiently in your skin, your strokes' crispness cannot be predicted or guaranteed. But as the PMU industry advances there are new techniques like nano strokes which could work for these skin types to achieve the same desired look.

4. THE DESIRED LOOK OF THE HEALED BROWS.

Is greatly determined by listening to the expertise and experience of your PMU artist. They want you to have the brows of your dreams and typically have a better idea of how each individual will heal from the service.

The Art of Microbading is what started the whole eyebrow makeover trend. Microblading --vs. Powder Brows, results in the MOST realistic and Natural looking outcome. Microblading is not natural looking on clients that do not have brow hair or very little brow hair. In those cases a powder brow looks much more natural and flattering.

5. MICROBLADING VS. POWDER BROWS HAS LONGER-LASTING RESULTS.

Microblading is done with creating crisp hair strokes. Over time redoing these hair strokes and have the appearance of thicker strokes. It can only be touch up so many times before it starts looking like a solid tattoo. Powder brow is much easier fade out over the times between your touch ups. Most people only need a touch up every 2-3 years. You want to remember each touchup is a tattoo, it creates scar tissue and you want to do that minimally. A good PMU artist will not recommend yearly touchups even though others may see that as an easy revenue stream. We believe in preserving the health and beauty of your PMU results for years to come!!

A topical anesthetic will be applied to the treatment areas multiple times throughout the services. However, everyone has a different comfort level, so some clients may experience slight pain. It is about as painful as having your eyebrows waxed or threaded. If you are menstruating, your sensitivity may increase.

If you have any of the following, Microblading/pmu will most likely not be the solution for you:

Pregnant or Breastfeeding

Overly sensitive skin

Allergies to topical anaesthetics

Severe Acne

Keratosis

Keloid scarring

Facial psoriasis or eczema

Overly dry skin

Iron deficiency

Previous tattoo that has not faded enough

There are also various contraindications that will determine if you are an appropriate candidate for the procedure.

The appointment takes approximately 1.5 - 2 hours. The first 15 minutes we go over all the consultation paperwork, take pictures and discuss shape and color. We will then create the outlined shape as a stencil for your approval. The topical anesthetic will be applied to the skin just before beginning the procedure.

No. And to expect perfect eyebrows is unrealistic. Microblading/pmu is a form of art and the best way to ensure that you will be satisfied is to find an artist with a ‘signature style’ that you can relate to

With most procedures, the color looks dramatically lighter after the first week. Some clients prefer this, while others opt for a bolder look. If you opt for a 2nd session, we will assess the color retention and make adjustments as necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. 

It takes approximately 14 days for the brows to heal, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in.  No down time is required after the procedure!

Your brows will appear darker and bigger than expected for the first few days. This will gradually lighten during the complete healing process and they will lighten 20 - 50% depending on which technique. Please view the detailed aftercare instructions you are given.
